Our Rich Legacy

Empowering Girls Since 1864 with Purposeful Programs and Lasting Impact

Park Central, whose mission is to empower girls and women every day, every step of the way, was founded in 1864 as the Industrial School, is proudly recognized as the very first Girls Club in the United States, in 1945 was one of the founding members of the Girls Clubs of America, and most recently was an affiliate of the Girls Inc. National Organization. Park Central serves girls of all ages, and is expanding access, making it a primary resource center for girls and women throughout Greater Waterbury.

Park Central offers a wide range of programs that include academic tutoring, art, empowerment, cooking, dance, sewing/fashion design, music, karate, and STEAM. It also offers adult programs and parent/child programs, throughout the year.  Programs are developed and in partnership with positive adult role models, offering  hands-on, minds-on, deliberate, impactful and life changing experiences.
